Do you Strive for Mediocrity?
Me either. Why settle for something good when you could have something great?
The team and I have had a few conversations recently about the progress and future of Dead Hunt because we’re running out of time to shoot this summer. If we push forward we could pull it off, but we would have to cut a lot of corners which will hurt the overall look and professionalism of the movie. I’m not prepared to do that and I hope you’re not either. To film Dead Hunt knowing that it’s not going to be the best it could possibly be simply will not do. The story deserves more than that. You deserve more than that.
The team and I agree that what’s best for the movie, for everyone involved and the for the audience, is to postpone filming it until the summer of 2017 – but that does not mean we stop working on it. On the contrary, we are delaying the shooting datebecause there is so much work to do!
I appreciate everyone who has shown an interest in being a part of Dead Hunt and your names will remain on our contact list so we can keep you notified of upcoming news and events as they unfold. Our primary focus is to write and shoot a trailer this summer to promote Dead Hunt and grow our fan base. For the trailer we will need people in front of and behind the camera.
The acting roles and how many zombies we’ll need for the trailer will be announced at a later date. Keep in mind that if you are in the trailer you are automatically in Dead Hunt next summer!
In the meantime I’d like to hear from anyone who is interested in working behind the scenes as a Camera Operator, 1st AD, Sound Recordist, Boom Operator, Gaffer, Grip, Set Design and so on. Having a strong team behind you is essential to a successful movie – with that in mind I will be writing and shooting several short films over the next year so we will have a chance to work together on a shoot. That way when we do film Dead Hunt everyone will be on the same page… and we get to make some cool short films in the process.
Future newsletters will contain information on what characters will be needed for the trailer as well as auditions and crew needed for the upcoming short films. Our last short film, THE FINAL GOODBYE, has been uploaded to my YouTube Channel and I am working on other short film projects. In the meantime, help us spread the word by telling everyone you know about DEAD HUNT, and to support independent film-making by clicking this link before shopping on Amazon.com (we earn a small referral commission on everything you buy – all commissions go directly towards purchasing film-making equipment.)
Through your support we were able to purchase a much needed camera stabilizer for Dead Hunt (and future short films) and a small shotgun microphone, but we are in dire need of upgrading a lot of our equipment so Dead Hunt will be the best movie we could possibly make. We will be running a few “mini campaigns” to help purchase some of that equipment for the short films, which will of course reduce the overall budget required to shoot Dead Hunt next summer.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
